With school starting up again, it is time to start hitting the books again. Even on the first day, it can start to be overwhelming with how much work there is to be done. 1. When you sit down to study, schedule everything that you will do. Don't just sit down with books in front of you. Make a list of what you need to do.

2. Study using ratios. Study in 25-minute increments and then take a 5 to 10 minute break and walk around or do something else. This is one of the more powerful tips you can take from this article. I still use this today to keep up with professional reading for my job. The human mind can only maintain a high level of awareness for so long, and then it drops off. By resting your brain every 25 minutes you can sustain higher levels of concentration. It may seem like you are taking more break time this way, but you will get more done.

3. Tasks swell in importance to the amount of time you give them. What I mean by this is that if you have to write an article for school and you give yourself two hours to write it, it will take two hours to write. Even though you could have possibly written the article in less than an hour, it took you two hours, because that is what you scheduled it for. So be careful when scheduling your study schedule so you don't give more time to less important tasks.

By using some of these study tips, you can be well ahead of your classmates. Remember you don't get an A for how much study time you put in. Sitting by your desk hour after hour is unproductive; so let your classmates do that.
